Product description: Monoclonal Antibody. Recognizes the Human, Mouse, Rat protein. Liquid. HEPES with 0.15M NaCl, 0.01% BSA, 0.03% sodium azide, and 50% glycerol. Cyclin-dependent kinases (Cdks) are the catalytic subunits of a family of mammalian heterodimeric serine/threonine kinases that have been implicated in the control of cell-cycle progression, transcription and neuronal function. Progression through G1 is regulated by a complex mechanism that can involve at least three Cdks (Cdk4, Cdk6 and Cdk2) and their regulators. Cyclins of the D-type family (D1, D2, and D3) bind and activate CDK4 and CDK6, while E-type cyclins (E1 and E2) primarily interact with CDK2. CDK4 and 6 are cyclin D1 binding partners, and activated cyclin D1/CDK4 and cyclin D1/CDK6 complex phosphorylate the retinoblastoma protein (Rb) to induce the expression of target genes essential for S phase entry, resulting in facilitation of the progression from G1 to S phase. Cdk4 and Cdk6 are inhibited by Cip/Kip or INK family of proteins. Probably involved in the control of the cell cycle.
