Product description: Polyclonal Antibody. Recognizes the Human, Mouse, Rat protein. Liquid. HEPES with 0.15M NaCl, 0.01% BSA, 0.03% sodium azide, and 50% glycerol. Cyclins play a key role in the orderly progression of the cell division cycle through their timed expression and their ability to bind, activate and enhance substrate affinity of their associated cyclin-dependent protein kinases (CDKs). E-type cyclins (cyclin E1 and cyclin E2) are expressed during the late G1 phase of the cell cycle until the end of the S-phase. Cyclin E binds and activates the kinase Cdk2 and by phosphorylating its substrates, the cyclic/Cdk2 complexes initiate a cascade of events that leads to the expression of S-phase specific genes. Besides this specific function as a regulator of S-phase-entry, cyclin E plays a direct role in the initiation of DNA replication, the control of genomic stability, and the centrosome cycle. Essential for the control of the cell cycle at the G1/S (start) transition.
