Détails Produit

Product Description
Jacalin lectin AIA is isolated from jackfruit seeds (Artocarpus integrifolia) and purified by affinity chromatography. AIA is a homotetrameric two-chain structure consisting of four identical protomers and a molecular weight of 66,000, with an isoelectric point of pH 7.8. Jacalin is considered a galactose-specific lectin that has an eluting concentration of 0.2M of galactose or melibiose. A post-translational proteolytic modification of Jacalin gives the lectin a novel carbohydrate-binding site involving the N terminus of the a-chain. The protein’s structure explains it’s carbohydrate-binding specificity of T-antigen disaccharide GalBeta1,3GalNAc. Potent inhibitors of jacalin include D-galactose, Beta-Met-Gal and 2-deoxy-α-D-galactose. The lectin has specificity for blood group O (+SA) and T.

This product comes in a lyophilized powder form and is stable for more than five years from production date when stored below -20 C.

Applications:
Isolation of IgA from human serum
Isolation of human plasma glycoproteins
Histochemistry
AIDS research
